Massimiliano and Doriana Fuksas

Massimiliano Fuksas’ family was originally from Lithuania. He was born in Rome in 1944, where at the end of the sixties he graduated in Architecture from “La Sapienza” University. He has been one of the main protagonists of the contemporary architectural scene since the Eighties. He was a Visiting Professor at several universities, including Columbia University in New York, École Spéciale d’Architecture in Paris, Akademie der Bildenden Kunste in Vienna, Staadtliche Akademia des Bildenden Kunste in Stuttgart. In 2000 he was Director of the “VII International Architecture Exhibition of Venice”: “Less Aesthetics, More Ethics”. He has received numerous awards and honors, including the “Medaglia della Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri”, from the Presidence of Minister Council of Italy in 2012, “Légion d‘Honneur” from the President of the French Republic in 2010, “Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française” in 2000, the “Grand Prix National d’Architecture Française”, Paris 1999 and the “Lifetime Achievement Award” at the “International Vitruvius Trayectoria”, Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1998. He is a member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), in London, UK and the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Washington DC, USA.

Doriana Fuksas was born in Rome, where she graduated in History of Modern and Contemporary Art at “La Sapienza” University in 1979. She also graduated in Architecture at ESA - Ecole Spéciale d’Architecture - Paris, France. Since 1985 she has worked with Massimiliano Fuksas and since 1997 has been responsible for “Fuksas Design”. She has received several international awards. In 2013 she was honored with the title of “Commandeur de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française”, and in 2002 awarded the honor of “Officier de l’Ordre des Arts et des Lettres de la République Française.”
